I can’t even describe how excited I am to enjoy the new Ridley film, Prometheus. My excitement has gotten a little ahead of me and I created these series of Posters celebrating the British directors’ return to the Genre that defined modern Sci-fi. These posters were also created as an exclusive collaboration with Empire Online.

I: What’s the earliest memory of a creative activity you did?

E: Like most American kids, I used to copy Disney characters. I had quite the collection but then got bored of “copying” so I started experimenting with other mediums.

I: If you weren’t doing what you do right now, what would you be doing?

E: This is always the hardest question to answer. Well if I were still “creative” but not a graphic designer/illustrator, I’d be an interior designer. I love textures and fabrics and always thought it was a great way to put your ideas to use in a contained area. If i weren’t “creative” at all, I’d definitely work with animals, maybe a veterinarian for wild animals.

I: Inspiration, who? what? where?

E:  Who: I’m always following Tad Carpenter, Anna Bond, Sass and Peril and Jessica Hische.

What: COLOR!

Where: The everyday. Most of my ideas come from just the everyday. I’ll see or talk about something and think wow, that could make a great print. I’ll sketch it out or write it down so that I can go back to it when I’m ready.

I: Share any of piece your work, recent or old and talk about it.

E: Today I Feel Like Baking was the first collection print I ever did. I soon realized the possibilities and just started creating more and more all based off of these “themes”. When I purchase a home, I’m designing my whole kitchen around this print. Red and teal is one of my favorite color palettes. So yeah I guess since this was the first one, it has a lot of meaning to me.

A new week and an old talented friend to share with everyone this monday, meet Hussien Shaaban. Hussien and myself go way back, I first met him through a group of friends at Fine Arts College in Zamalek. He was one of the main founders of legendary Egyptian Boutique Design house FileClub. The beautiful thing about Hussien, isn’t just the way he’s able to capture and paint his vision via photographs, it’s also his attitude and passion for creating unique things everytime he gets an opportunity. Whether it’s a music video, an eclectic shoot or hanging out shooting celebrities from around the world, Hussien really is a pleasure to be around.

I: What’s the earliest memory of a creative activity you did?

H: As far as I can remember, it was either my first photography film I shot when I was in my adolescences, or maybe when i made a melody on the piano that I have never heard before.

I: If you weren’t doing what you do right now, what would you be doing?

H: If I’m not doing photography or films, I would have been doing music.
It was my dream when I was a kid.

I: Inspiration, who? what? where?

H: Who :

Patrick Demarchelier
Baldovino Barani
Harry Borden
Peter Beard
Alejandro González Iñárritu
Tarsem Singh
Darren Aronofsky
Stanley Kubrick
Tony Kaye
Michel Gondry
Mark Romaneck
Spike Jonze
Fernando Meirelles

What: Well I get mostly inspired by music, designs, stories, people and places i go to except the space and deep sea
and also movies like the fountain, the fall, space odyssey.

Where: I get inspired mainly under the shower lol and before I go to sleep mainly when I’m focused with a clear head.

I: Share any of piece your work, recent or old and talk about it.

H: The photo is from a long term project called the project island. This was shot during the trial phase. The project revolves around an island with 20  + characters inspired by, art, paintings, movies, stories, dreams, nightmares and imagination. It’s also a project That I’d want to exhibit one day. So far, I have done 10 characters and there are still 10 to go.
